I have seen this before in problem reports... try searching in dejanews (www.dejanews.com) for 'linux install signal 11'. You didn't mention it, but are you running the install from a dos prompt, not a dos window in Win98. I installed mine using a boot floppy from w95 and a driver to acess my cdrom. What brand computer? Why not use fdisk instead of DiskDruid? What sort of HD? Is it UDMA? I had the same problem with a Seagate 6.5G UDMA HD. It would get part of the way into the install, then signal 11. I got another 1.2Gb EIDE drive, it installed without a hitch, the only problem being that I couldn't get LILO onto the MBR of the UDMA drive without corrupting the partition table so am booting from a floppy :( KK

Don't quote me on this, but I think that there may be a 3G Hdd limit. (Read
it somewhere, but might be only for an older version of RH)
If You R going to use more than 1 drive for multiple operating systems, then
why not set your 1.2G as master and the other drive as slave. Set Linux on
the master and WinXX (nt/95/98) on the other drive). When the install
process asks you to be able to see other drives, this is where you indicate
which drive(physical or logical - depending on how you set it up) and a name
for it... ie: /dev/hda = Linux.... /dev/hdb = WinXX and then save your LILO
on the MBR of the primary disk.
PS: I usually find it easier to wipe the disk I'm gonna install Linux to and
create the Boot / Image disk to Boot and install from.
PS: Did you run FDISK once booted in linux... Recommended to do so, and set
a Native and a Swap partition.

Of course!! This is the obvious solution (without doing anything technical), thanks :) BTW, my setup on initial Redhat installation was (IIRC): 3Gb - win98 (fat32) 2Gb - empty (set aside for future win nt install) 1.5Gb - linux The first time I noticed the problem with the corrupted partition table was after using fdisk during the red hat install. I changed my mind about the swap size and tried to go back into fdisk (using the back button in the install utility), and the partition table was screwed, ie. my win98 partition was now 2kb!!!! I restarted (hoping it hadn't written the partition table) but win98 wouldn't boot (corrupted VFAT), but all my directory info (some 1.5Gb of stuff) was intact, in my 2kb partition :( After numerous attempts to get LILO on the MBR, I switched to the non-UDMA drive, and install went without a hitch. So methinks it's more a compatibility issue with Seagate's UDMA drives tahn anything else... KK

Since you already have solved the problem, this is irrelevant, but I actually ran into the same problem when I inadvertantly named /usr, /user.
