Hi Guys, I can run Quake2 underneath X11 but cannot seem to do so for SVGA. Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding squake for Quake2 ? I downloaded squake, but it was expecting Quake1. Also has anyone had the problem where they try and load a saved game and get a segmentation fault ? Thanks Graham msupport@microsoft.com askbill@microsoft.com billg@microsoft.com resume@microsoft.com

Not me, but Q2's savegame system seems to be a collection of rather gross hacks, this is especially true for the Linux version. The soon-to-be-released v3.15 is supposed to fix this for once and all, and is said (or at least was planned) to support inter-platform savegame compatibility (ie. 95/NT savegames can be loaded from the Linux version & vice versa). I don't really get any error messages. The big problem is, I don't know _how_ to run squake2. I'm running Quake2 for X11 version 3.14a I thought that was meant to have the problem of loading a game causing a segmentation fault fixed. Thanks for the tip.
I eventually was able to save and restore a game.
I found that I had to :-
- start Quake2
- start the network server.
- start a game.
- save that game.
Then I was able to load other games that I had previously saved.
Thanks
Graham
