Hi, At the momenty i have a 260 meg HDD with Windows 95 on it. Now i have a blank 340 meg ready for Redhat Linux 4.1 to be installed. What i wish to do is, make 240 meg of the 340 meg hard disk for LINUX. And the other 100 meg for WINDOWS 95 programs etc. Can i do this or does Linux need to have the full 340 meg??? ta +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Roddy Strachan | IPAX Head Office: (03) 9887-1984 | | IPAX Systems | IPAX Fax: (03) 9801-8533 | | Systems Administrator | IPAX Postal: GPO BOX 94A | | E-mail: rod@ipax.com.au | Melbourne, Vic | | Mobile: 0419-001-541 | Australia 3001 | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+

You certainly can, though you might find 240Mb a little tight for Linux. -- David Gibson @ The Lorax | New from Microsoft... If this bloke can run win95 in 260 megs, he can run linux in 240, no worries. He will just have to be a bit frugal. I once installed a Slackware version of linux on a 420 meg drive that was shared with a win3.1 system. I think it had about 280 megs. For linux as distributed with Applixware student edition, the recommended space for linux with X is 100Mb!!! Yours faithfully, Peter -- __ /__ Peter B. The problem might more be one of trying to fit Micro$ofts bloatware in 100 Mb and getting anything useful out of it! antony@vigen.com.au
