Hello,

I am having a problem or two getting X windows to run. I was hoping
that someone could give me a hand. As far as I can see, I don't have
the config files set correctly, and can not find them, hence change
them. Infact I dont even know what they are called! I have installed
LINUX 4 times now!

I have a 486 with an EIDE HDD
Sound Blaster + CD-ROM
NE2000 card, not doing anything at the mement.
Cirrus Logic Graphics Card

Could someone please contact me and offer some assistance.

Thanks very much

Stephen

Depends which Linux distribution you're using and which version of
XFree you have installed. It's much easier in the later versions
(XFree 3.1 upwards)

Normally the ConfigXF86 documentation file can be found in

/usr/X11R6/lib/ConfigXF86
/usr/X386/lib/ConfigXF86

The file that does the business is in

/usr/lib/X11

and called XF86Config

Read the Docs before doing anything.

I also suggest you run 'SuperProbe', to find out the exact chip-set on your
graphics card.
