Hi all, I've being playing with cdrecord / xcdroast etc... but both my cdrom drives are atapi. So I read the HOWTO, and setup the scsi-hostadapter emulation ... no problem. Both my cdrom drives were detected as scsi hosts and not atapi. So Cd-recording seems ok although I have'nt had much time to test it properly. But the problem is sound playback under scsi-emulation. I have installed emu10k1 driver and have problems playing it on /dev/sr0 - playback is muffled / jumpy .. sounds like buffer type problem. Reverting my cdroms back to atapi detection (ie. drop scsi-hostadapter emulation) & playback is fine. Wonder if this is a problem with the emu10k1 driver???!!! My emu10k1 driver is the 0.4beta dated april 00. Concidently, I am having error messages with "DMI received. Dazed and confused but trying to continue .... may be problem with yr RAM chips" But this is not causing the playback problem. This "Dazed and confused" errors messages I've been told are caused by post Feb emu10k1 drivers. I can fix this by getting a emu10k1 driver pre Feb 00 so I'll give this a go when I get a chance, cya noel..

this seems ok now since a installed a emu10k1_00000314 driver. Seems to be problems with the latest emu10k1 releases (since mid february) .... especially with the Dazed and Confused system messages. thanks noel wrote in message <8cck4s$fb1$1@kermit.esat.net>... >Hi all, > >I've being playing with cdrecord / xcdroast etc... but both my cdrom >drives are atapi. >So I read the HOWTO, and setup the scsi-hostadapter emulation ... no >problem. >Both my cdrom drives were detected as scsi hosts and not atapi. > >So Cd-recording seems ok although I have'nt had much time to test it >properly. > >But the problem is sound playback under scsi-emulation.
