hi,

i'm installing splay and it cannot find a recent version of libasound??

where can i get this library or module?

also,

My linux installation "gets dazed and confused ... attempting to recover...
please wait"
repeating messages on each virtual terminal after I exit X.

I think it may be something to do with my x1186free file - I uncommented
the
line for VideoRAM. wonder what causes this ... I end up having to hard
boot my PC
but it does'nt happen until after I exit X (ie when startkde
terminates)

I just got sound working last night after re-installing Red Hat .. maybe
something in the sound module
causes it either.

all speculation on my part ... any ideas , linux experts?

thanks
cya
noel.

name this program rpmq and throw it in your path, pop in your cdrom
dont forget to chmod +x on rpmq
Usage = rpmq libpopt.so.0
and sitback while it goes threw your cdrom's rpm's and smoke a cig
or have pet the cat
it will tell you what rpm contains the file in question

###############################################
#!/bin/bash
mount /dev/cdrom 2> /dev/null
cd /mnt/cdrom/[RM]*/RPMS
for rpm in *.rpm
do rpm -qlp $rpm | egrep -i "$1" && echo $rpm
done
