lesstif/motif question

Hello, I am a newbie to lesstif, so please forgive my perhaps too
simple question. I have a linux-application (viewmol-2.1.1) that
comes as a binary that is dynamically linked to lesstif. When i
install both viewmol and lesstif 0.86 (binary linux version), it
complains that it does not find libXm.so.0. In the lesstif-distri-
bution, libXm.so.1 and libXm.so.2 are included, but what about
.so.0 ?

Best wishes,

Hi,
Just create a link to the new libXm.so.2
named /usr/lib/libXm.so.0

the program apperently uses an older version of lesstif probably not
designed with Motif since that would make the program rather ancient
wouldn't it?

would that work?? Maybe, if the api of the 2 is the same,...but some
libs might do wierd things

indeed

Well, I tried it once, and it worked more of less:
The tested program did not what I wanted it to do, but I don't know, if
it would do that at all. At least, it didn't destroy anything.

I was quite sure that there wouldn't be
serious differences between the single libXm-versions, but I cannot
guarantee...
(too naive?)

Maybe someone who knows the `intimate Details' could give a hint.
