Excel "file is locked" error message -- bizarre!

Hello everyone,

We have an excel file on a PDC. All of the sudden, the file could
no longer be accessed. We keep getting a "file is locked" error.

We have rebooted the PDC, and tried to rename the file. We tried to
access the file from both Win95 and NT workstations. We have also
checked the file permissions. The file is shared and even the file
owner cannot access it. We have made sure that no-one has the
 file open.

                                                 any ideas will be
appreciated,

Eric

Can you make a copy of it and open the copy? If it's on an FAT partition
you could try booting from a floppy and accessing it that way. You can also
get a program that will allow you to boot to an NTFS volume from a floppy
drive at http://www.sysinternals.com/
