Help needed! The following AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS is from a currently networked Pentium P75 workstation running WFWG311 and Novell 3.11. The machine needs to be disconnected from the network and needs to run as a stand-alone. Can someone point out what needs to be modified from the Autoexec.Bat & Config.Sys below to enable the PC to run as a stand-alone? Optional: If you can explain what the lines mean, it'd be appreciated as well. Thanks.... Hello Imran, Bear in mind here that I am no expert, and have no experience whatsoever with Novell, but the modified startup files below should do the trick. Perhaps you'll get a reply from someone with some experience in Novell, and/or the programs/devices/drivers that are loaded that I do not recognise, which I have marked with and asterisk (*). Obviously, if you copy it all wholesale, delete the asterisks. :) Where I don't recognise something, I have left it to load/run. Also, to optimise your memory usage, I would run Memmaker, or Qemm (if you have it), after you have put the files to use and determined that everything loads alright - use the F8 function key option upon booting up to confirm each line. Note that I have deleted all references to load devices/programs into high memory, so Memmaker can do its own thing. I have 'rem'arked out the lines which I believe refer to your Novell networking settings. I have also 'remmed' out the SHARE program lines, as WFW loads it's own version of this program, so it's not needed if you're only going to be using WFW and plain DOS. In fact, if you don't use any DOS programs, or none in which you use a mouse, you can save a little more memory by 'rem'ing out the MOUSE line as WFW provides its own. You can also comment out (with a semi-colon ;) the SETVER line in your CONFIG.SYS if you don't use any DOS programs, or no old ones at least. If you don't want to use the DOS menu program you have, you can rem out the last two lines in your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Hope this helps, and short of getting some expert help here, you can email me if you have any problems. Regards, Daren Palmer. ***PS: REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR AUTOEXEC.BAT AND CONFIG.SYS - PREFERABLY OUT OF THE WAY ON A FLOPPY DISK*** AUTOEXEC.BAT rem LH C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE/L:500 \EZRES\EZRES* lh c:\windows\vgautil\clmode t6=0 t8=156 t1=1 t2=151 @ECHO OFF PROMPT $P$G C:\MOUSE\MOUSE PATH C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS rem PATH C:\NWCLIENT\;%PATH% SET TEMP=C:\TEMP SMARTDRV.EXE C:\DOS\DOSKEY/INSERT* C:\AST_LOG* CD\CC lh CC* CD\ rem @CALL C:\NWCLIENT\STARTNET set ndrv=f* rem cd\nwclient :START rem rprinter -r rem rprinter p_serv 0 rem IF ERRORLEVEL=1 GOTO START CD\ rem f:login REM Menu Works Personal PATH=%PATH%;c:\menuwork; mw c:\menuwork\mw.mdf/nosearch:ab CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS DOS=HIGH,UMB DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE FILES=60 BUFFERS=30 STACKS=9,256 SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM/P/E:1024 ; install=c:\dos\share.exe/l:500/f:5100 LASTDRIVE=C

This line may not need to be there at all PATH C:\NWCLIENT\;%PATH% These appear to be the ones that install the network - the actual installation is done by STARTNET.
