Hello All, Must say, off the bat, I recently started dealing with '95, hence I recently started reading the three win groups. Lotsa help. Novell group, thank you too. ;) I'll admit I'm not the most knowledgable, by a long-shot, person when it comes to this stuff, but here goes: Novell 3.11. Workstations are all p133, 16 megs. Everything's hunky dory, but we also run NASI to allow access to our server's modem pool. All of this is really old, NASI v.1 (9/93), NASIDIAG v.3.1 (if it matters). The way it works now is this: Boot a workstation, up pops win95, back to DOS for network login, then NASI login, then win95 login (yes, i read how to fix that last one). Anyhow, that's an awful lot of login/passwords to type. I know you can 'automate' the NASI login, but i'm somewhat understandably leery of doing that. In any event, it's my understanding NASI must load after loading the network yet prior to bringing up windows. Seems to be true, since I've tried monkeying with it to no avail. Am I barking up the wrong tree here? What I'd really like is for the workstation to boot directly to windows, and at that point have the login-to-network box pop up and, provided the user enters a valid netware login etc., have it "login" to the net, windows, *and* NASI all at once. Or even better yet, if there's something *in* '95 that would do this <shrug> already...and just scrap NASI <another shrug>. Oh, and we're using Crosstalk (eek) v2.0... Anyhow, if i'm totally off-base and outright wrong here, please inform me of that fact -- I don't mind looking stupid if I get the job done. Besides, this is back burner right now. Otherwise, thanks people. Email or post, don' matter (don't you hate those ppl that ask for help and then say they don't read the groups?). John A. LeMon lemon@unr.edu (or various variations thereon)

John, What are you using for a modem pool? NetWare Connect ver. 1 or 2? Wanderlink? ... If connect, what kind of server? Dedicated or Non? >In any event, it's my understanding NASI must load after loading >the network yet prior to bringing up windows. Seems to be true, since >I've tried monkeying with it to no avail. If you can, (depending on your applications) try using the microsoft shell or client32 instead of a loading your shell at bootup in DOS. By the way, are you running NETX or VLM? >Oh, and we're using Crosstalk (eek) v2.0... Don't try to give excuses for asking questions. The reason this group is here is for asking questions and getting answers or suggestions. Regardless the complexity. Besides, everyone has learned something at some point and time that may be helpfull to another person later. So give and take. Good luck. >John A.
