I am trying to install an IBM Auto T/R Adapter and get this . The card installs with (no errors) using Win95 support drivers. When I re-boot windows I get this: Your Network adapter Token Ring Auto 16/4 PC Card (000x) is not working properly. You may need to set it up again. For more information, see the Network Troubleshooter in Windows Help. I've re-installed this card (10) times. What the hel lis going on. Someone suggested I remove all oother adapters (ie, Soundcard, Modem, etc and re-try). Problem with that is why should I have to and if I do that wil l I get my other cards to work? Help Please...

Well, I'v e managed to get the the card installed and Win95 doesn't give me the old msg anymore. However, I do see a msg: *DHCP Client cannot get IP address of a Server? I still can' t get to my server... When I click on Network the only thing I see is a small icon , 'Entire Network'. When I click on that I get: *Unable to browse the Network. The network is not accessable... I am missing something, I'm not quit sure the heck it is. As I stated earlier its been several years since I've played with this stuff. Please respond to: artreid@prodigy.net

The DHCP message is because you have not configured the TCP/IP protocol in the network control panel. Because it is unconfigured, your computer is looking for a DHCP server on the network, doesn't find one and tells you. DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, a subprotocol of TCP/IP. Are you using TCP/IP on your network? What kind of server are you trying to connect to? I suggest you look at another computer on your network, or if you're just connecting to another Windows 95 machine, the other machine, and set up clients, protocols and services exactly like the other one. If you don't know what TCP/IP is, you are probably not using it. Stick with IPX/SPX compatible or NetBUEI , they're easier. Thanks to all how helped. I can now get to the server from DOS, No problem... I still have to get into a DOSWIN and execute STARTNET from my LNCLIENT directory though to see the drives with mapped letters (P: Q: R: etc). Now all I have to do is figure out why? It seems to me, if I can do this then Win95 should pickup the drive mappings automatically from DOS? Art
