Looking, on behalf of one of my clients, for a tn3270 which will run on their Windows NT Desktop (and perhaps their 3.1) systems. They currently have about 50 NT systems in place, and may expand to 200. Their mainframe applications are written for 3270 Model 5 (132x27) terminals. We don't want another TCP/IP protocol stack. The most straightforward solution looks to be a winsock-compliant tn3270. We're looking at QMS Extra, but it doesn't advertise Model 5 emulation. PMANT (IBM) would be perfect, if it's available for Windows, but I've only found it under OS/2. Would like to keep it under 100 USDollars/desktop. Well under would be nice. Shareware and freeware are acceptable. Suggestions? -- Bob Shair Open Systems Consultant 1018 W. Springfield Avenue rmshair@uiuc.edu Champaign, IL 61821 217/356-2684

It appears to support the model 5, but it uses Novell's WLIBSOCK.DLL, not WINSOCK.DLL. So, it probably won't do the job for you. Peter.

The commercial version is called QWS3270 Extra, which will do the job (with a VERY slight mod to support IBM-3278-5-E, which the author has agreed to put it) and offers a 199-user site license for $2000. -- Bob Shair Open Systems Consultant 1018 W.
