Sorry for the massive cross-posting, but does anyone know if anything with the below features exist? I tried to find such a device on various networking product sites, but could not find one. If you know of such a device, please email me ASAP at pete@voicenet.com Thanks! Summary: Device that emulates an ISP (with dialtone, ringing, handshake tones, etc) so that something that only has a modem, such as a Dreamcast, can get a 28.8k or better Ethernet connection without having to use the Dreamcast's broadband adapter. This is useful because out of the 15+ Dreamcast online games, only 2 actually support the Broadband adapter - the rest need to use the modem. Although you won't get the speed of using the Broadband adapter with a device like this, if such a device existed it would not require you to tie up a phone line or signup for a dialup ISP for the games that don't support the BBA. Features needed: 1) An external Ethernet Interface with a RJ-45 jack that plugs into your broadband connection, and a modem jack that plugs into your modem. 2) External power supply (does not rely on USB/computer for power). 3) Ability to program DNS servers/IP addresses into device's internal memory through a PC interface, so device does not rely on software after programmed and can therefore be used with any OS and therefore the Dreamcast. 4) Under $200. Thanks again.
