Ok, this is probably an easy and silly problem that I'm just missing, but one of my users' NT4 workstations is doing some trivial but annoying things, and I'm not even sure where to start looking. The "My Computer" icon on the desktop of the machine in question is fine. However, when you open My Computer and look at the pull-down menu in the toolbar - y'know the one that shows where you are and would thus say "My Computer" -- when you look at that pull-down, the icon next to My Computer is the icon for a zip archive from WinZip. That I can ignore. However, the other symptom/problem is pretty bothersome. We're running a contact database frontend called SalesLogix that relies on Borland's BDE Configuration Utility to set up its connections to the data sources. On all the other workstations, I can use the BDE conf utility without a problem. However, on the problem workstation - which is also the one with the screwy icons - I can open the BDE conf util, but every time I type something into a field and then move to the next field, it erases everything in the field I just left. For example, if I set up a new Interbase alias, then go to set the values for the alias, such as Server Name or Path, I can type into those boxes, but the second I click somewhere else, everything I typed disappears. It even happens with pull-down menus such as Server Query Mode. At first I thought it was just a redraw or video problem, but no - it really is removing those values. The only way I've been able to get that system working so far has been to do the BDE configuration on another workstation, then copy the idapi32.cfg file from it to the problem machine. :-( Anyone seen similar problems? Gotta fix? Any help is greatly appreciated! Greetings, I have seen the same problem with the BDE Configutation utility on some Win 95 machines here. I have noticed that if I input (I cut and paste) the Server Name first and then the Path, both remain on the screen and then the config can be saved by just closing the window. This has worked so far for me. Hope this helps.
