problem with irpstacksize

Hi, excuse me if this is a easy problem, but I am new in NT4.
I installed NT4 very easy in our server, we shared the cdrom and 2 HD
without problems.(we were working with all).
2 days ago I got this problem from the problem viewer (sorry I have the
spanish release of NT 4 and I do not know the correct translation).
"the configuration parameter irpstacksize in the server is too small for the
server for been used. Increase the value of this parameter"
Identificator 2011
origen Srv
Same times also I got a problem with \Device\Lanmanserver
My problem is that I don't know where to change this parameter, file or
whatever.
Thank you in advance to whatever help.

I think, although it is difficult to tell exactly, this is the error
that in english says "not enough server storage space...". It usually
occurs when you add a networking component (a protocol, network
service etc.) and forget to reinstall the latest service pack. The
solution is to reinstall service pack 4.

Hi Paco, I got your mail but I thought I would reply here since ppl just
were responding w/ "install service pack" answers.

An IRP is an "interrupt request packet". Basically, what it looks like is
happening here is there is a shortage of default stacks assigned to your
driver. This is a kernel mode issue, and there are three things you can
try:

1) Go to the netcard's web site and look for the latest driver. They may
fix this size for you. If you have already installed the lastest driver,
then:

** Make sure you back up your registry before doing this

2) Change the following registry key:
Path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Key: Size
Value: Change to *5* (should be 3 by default). This *should* give you some
more space.

Anyone who sees a problem with this (or if I'm off base) PLEASE POST
IMMEDIATELY.

thanks --

Sounds about right, Rich :-)

We've run into IRP Stacksize issues when installing Antivirus
software. Norton 5.0 is *supposed* to automatically increase the IRP
stack size. It adds 2 to whatever it already is, or sets it to 6,
whichever is higher. I think. At least thats what it says in the
README file on the CD. IBM's AntiVirus product also needed us to
increase the IRP stacksize, but we had to do it ourselves. Having too
little stacksize prevents any NET USING to the machine in question.
