I have a problem on NT Server 4.0 getting a Network Adapter (A RACAL XTOLL ISDN card) to dial up the Internet when there is traffic. I can connect to the internet OK if I open the DIal Up Networking application and press the Dial button. That causes DUN (or RAS?) to dial-up and connect without any problem. Once connected I can ping addresses on the Internet, do ftp, www etc without problems. If I am not connected to the internet and I try to ping an address on the Internet then ping simply times out. The ISDN card does not auto-dial and nothing works. I've been through all the Sever Networking resource kit docs, tweaked all the things that you are supposed to get Dial up networking to auto-dial, and still no joy. Is there any way of tracking the decisions made by NT when deciding not to open up my dial-up route? This state of affairs is a problem because I would really like to run a proxy web server and mail server on the NT box, but as things stand this is a non-starter. I note that in the Dial up networking monitor, it says that the card is reporting the status "Unavailable" whatever that means.
