Hi! I'm in an unusual situation. We use Seagate Backup Exec 7.0 for Enterprise here at our site. We just setup an SQL server, and also purchased an SQL Agent 7.0 module so that our backup can backup our database. We received an SQL Agent license for Backup Exec 7.2. This license is incompatible with 7.0 Backup Exec. I called the company we bought the license from, CompUSA. They told me that they no longer carry any 7.0 licenses for SQL Agent. So.. I called Seagate Software. Their customer support told me that they will not swap my license for a 7.0 license. As an alternative, they would send me an Enterprise copy of Backup Exec 7.2 for $800. This is more money than I would like to spend this fiscal year. Also, it would mean that I would have to go through the pain of upgrading our backup server, which I REALLY don't want to do. For the purposes of our site, 7.0 is good enough and has worked well enough. We're not planning on moving to a new version till NT 5.0 comes out. So... I wish to swap licenses with someone who is planning on moving to 7.2. If you are planning to move to 7.2 and have a 7.0 SQL Agent license, I would be happy to trade and give you our perfectly unused 7.2 SQL Agent license for your 7.0 SQL Agent License. As far as I understand it, this swap would be perfectly legit. Please e-mail me if you are interested. Thanks! Francis Yom fyom@symmetry-systems.com
