How can i make an Nt_server 4.0 (sp3) backup daily to an tape device ? And, how make RAS don't receive call's at office work hours. So that RAS only receive call's when the office is closed ( 6.00 PM ), reson here for is that the phone line is in use as voice line at office hours.

Both of these things can be done with the windows NT schedule service. Look it up in the windows NT help. Basically, you will have to start the schedule service (I changed mine to start automatically). Then you will need to add entries to the scheduler's task list. This is done at the command line with the "AT" command. The resource kit has a nice little GUI interface program called WinAT. Here some examples of command lines to start a simple backup, stop RAS, and start RAS: AT \\servername 0100 /EVERY:1,15 C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\NTBACKUP.EXE NORMAL C: AT \\servername 0600 /EVERY:M,T,W,Th,F NET STOP REMOTE ACCESS SERVER AT \\servername 1800 /EVERY:M T W Th F NET START REMOTE ACCESS SERVER The backup only runs on the 1st and 15th of the month. The others run only during the weekdays. Of course it is usually easier to correct and shorter to setup if you put the commands you want to run in a batch file and then run the batch file with the AT command. You can use the AT command to schedule a backup. Create a batch file that runs the backup and schedule the batch file. I am not sure about the RAS part but I don't think that you can specify at what times the RAS part should be active... I'm not sure about the RAS question. Make sure the scheduler is running ->control->pannel services. You want create a batch file to use Ntbackup. If you open the manual backup program under administrative tools and invoke help you can get a print out of the Ntbackup command and how to you is it. You can then envoke the batch file using the AT command or go to your resource kit and find an executable called winat.exe (Gui) I highly recommend a third party solution like backupExec for NT Madshark wrote: > How can i make an Nt_server 4.0 (sp3) backup daily to an tape device ? > > And, how make RAS don't receive call's at office work hours.
