SMTP Gateway Recommendations?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend an SMPT-to-POP3 mail gateway to run on NT Server
4 (with dial-up modem) for networked Win95 clients to access? The main
criteria is that it must be able to run in the background as an NT
Service (i.e. so that it runs without the administrator being logged
in all the time). The server is currently running Ms Proxy Server 2,
which works fine for Web, FTP and NNTP.

I am currently using Mercury 32 (from the Pegasus Mail folks), but
this requires a user to be logged in all the time to run it.

Hi Pete,

I would recommend Post.Office v3.1.2 its a sorted package, with most
features you could possibly want, easy to configure etc. and best of all,
its free for less than 10 mailboxes.

Check it out at : www.software.com

NTMail at www.ntmail.co.uk should give you what you need - I have used it at
a number of clients and from home. It is not free but is fairly cheap.

Pete,

I use FTGate (also written by Demon customers) for a long time. It works
pretty well, and it's cheap.

Currently, I use MS Exchange - but that may be overkill for what you need;
especially price-wise...

Regards,
Jon
