Where is print output from Word spooled ?

I have a problem with MS word 7.

We frequently have to print off a 10 page document with a few full page
150 dpi bit maps in it.

Any manipulation of these seems to cause a huge amount of swapping even
on a P/133 with 64 meg of RAM. Print manager also reports that each
document uses about 11 meg of disk when spooled.

We typically print off about 70 documents at a time so we need about a
gig of space to spool in as well as a fair bit of swap space I guess.

At the moment, I get the impression that Word is spawning a task or
thread which should generate all the output, but this is failing
( giving no error report ! ) once it runs out of disk space ( spool or
swap ? ).

I can put more drives in the system, but I need to know how to configure
Word and the print spooler to use them.

I guess setting the swap drive is easy, but where does spooled output
live ? How do I configure windows to use some nominated path ?

Cheers, J/.

You have to set the spool file location from the registry.... Just be sure
and back up the registry hive.
Hope this helps!

Hmmm... Got there in the end. It's not all that clear just which entry
you have to edit. What's the point of all the 'clone' stuff in there
for a start ? Sure does muddy the waters !

Backups ? What are they ? We throw away the machines when the disks
get full here ! ( Only kidding ! This machine is 7 years and gets the
really perilous software installed on it for testing. When it screws up,
we reinstall. )

It did - thankyou !

Is there good documentation of the NT registry anywhere ?
