If you have no knowledge at all of C and/or if you have no knowledge
of C++ first get a book to learn the very fundamentals; e.g. what is a
structure, pointer, class? Make some HelloWorld console applications.

I did the first seven or so chapters of Scribble which got me going
but I did not enjoy it much. I found "Teach Yourself Visual C++ 5 in
24 Hours" at

which is IMHO much nicer.
