I am looking to have developed or get a commercial product that will help me protect and distribute a new windows 95 utility. I want easy to enter license strings (keys) that license the app to a single system, but if moved becomes a demo version. Stimalatious network licenses would be a plus. Time bombs must be available also. Any comments appreciated. Ian

A number of brands are available. If your program provides something that no other program without such copy protection provides then you may be able to sell it. If you do't use a dongle you may be able to key on something in the system configuration. By doing that you can be sure that your program will not run if the user upgrades the system. You might even be able to force her (or him) to buy another copy of your program that way, or buy a competing program. Don't ever use a time bomb! That will ruin your sales and make many prople angry - possibly enough to sue you if you destroy something intrinsic to their business. I don't know what you mean by "stimalatious." I can't find the word in my dictionary. Perhaps you mean "simultaneous?" Richard Stewart MacDonald

My view on copy protection is that you will always get some piracy, whatever method you use. If your software is good enough then people will pay for it, otherwise they will copy it. Make your software so good that people will feel guilty about using it without paying!
