Hi. I have an application which I am working on which views large amounts of data. Since the amount of time it takes to load the entire dataset into a RichEdit component is unreasonable (and not practical), I have written a number of routines which cut and paste the text just outside of the user's view. (Thus, internally the text is viewed as a series of pieces though to the user it looks like one big contigous piece of text.) This seems to work quite well. However, when the user wants to select a passage of text, this becomes much more complicated as the user then has control over the beginning and ending positions of the selection. (Which is what I've been using to insert the text.) Does anyone have any ideas on how I might allow a user to select text while I am cutting and pasting text into the Rich Edit just outside their view? (BTW: I am using C++ Builder though I am not afraid to get ugly with WinAPI stuff if I have to.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
