I have a need to create a huge type library. I was wondering what memory, performance limitations I can run into. I wrote a program to create a type library and some dummy interfaces with methods on them. Here are the limits on the number of Interfaces and Methods I can have. Number of Interfaces : 1022 Number of Methods Per Interface : 2207 If I tried to have any more interfaces or methods my call to CreateTypeInfo or Layout failed. Our development environment is MTS 2.0, Delphi 4.0, SQL Server 6.5, Win NT 4.0. I takes forever to create this and then opening it up using the type library editor that comes with Delphi. Are there any drawbacks in creating one huge type library as compared to several small ones. Thanks in advance. See this KB article "FIX: Large Number of Methods in an OLE Interface Causes Failure" ID: Q170989 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q170/9/89.asp). It shows that Windows NT 4.0 - 110 methods Windows NT 4.0 SP2 - 512 methods Windows NT 4.0 SP3 - 1024 methods Windows 95 - 512 methods If you have a requirement that your objects should work in all the above platforms, you have to limit to 110 methods. I dont think there is a restriction on number of interface though. IMHO, I think you have to redesign your object. I dont think having 1000s of methods on 1000s of interfaces is a proper thing to do. If you give an outline of the problem, someone might be able to help you redesign it. -- Girish Bharadwaj [VC++/MVP]. Dont send email queries to me directly. Please put them on the newsgroups.
