Hi all, I have just installed MS Help Compiler Workshop v4.03. When I go to double click on either a .hpj (help project) or .cnt (help contents) file, I find that both are not associated with HCW as they should be as part of the install. No real dramas, I go to View --> Options --> File Types, and see that the file associations for Help Project and Help Contents are in the list (to me this means that they are in the registry - yes?), just not associated with HCW. I do that, fine, it works OK. Next time I reboot, I notice that the file associations work, but the correct icon is not displayed for these file types. Doing the abovementioned process but just changing the icon to whatever it should be works fine once, but a reboot seems to make the problem re-occur. I know this is a trivial problem, and hey, the file association works so why am I worried? But to me this indicates a problem of some kind, either with HCW, or (god forbid) my registry. The latter is unlikely (I'd like to think) as the PC is new. Any ideas? Thanks, Regards, Sean...

Sean, Are you using a help authoring tool? If so which one? Did you try reinstalling HCW after tweaking the file associations? ________________________________________________ William Meisheid "Thoughts still and always in progress" WUGNET/Help Authoring Forum Sysop & Microsoft MVP Certified Baltimore/Washington area RoboHELP Training Sageline Publishing 410.465.2040 Fax: 410.465.1812 http://www.sageline.com wgm@sageline.com
