Likely no one is willing to do it now due to the crap that was started
because one person didn't like my request.

Generally because some people like to.  And if he could sell it for
$50 a copy, why wouldn't he?  No one is prevented from doing just that
after they write a program and license it to a specific person.  That
argument makes no sense.  You suggest he could sell it for $50 a copy
and not be willing to take my $100...
