Freeserve failure to logon aftersetting up new account

Can anyone understand why I have been able using Netscape 4 to setup a Freeserve account (creating a new connectlet with freeservesignup/signup logon username & password) choosing a node and real password yet am unable to connect using these words afterwards. I've done this twice (I have 2 accounts but can't use them!) The terminal window reports incorrect password from the Freeserve server if I use just the node and my passsword and Windows95 reports "this computer is unable to set up a DUN----) if I use username.freeserve.co.uk and my password. Could it be a modem problem- it's a V90 flashed Courier. I have no problems with Demon connections for my other account. -- Michael Clements (Note Email Address is not correct to foil spammers!) Hi Richard,
I am interested in the free internet access "Free Serve" as we do not
have such service locally. Is this free service supported by
advertisements? Does it make the user very annoying in the inserted
advertisements or similar to Yahoos?
Thanks,
Raymond

FreeServe is completely free, and it's quite fast.
No adverts whatsoever. All you get is Outlook Express, IE4, and a Dial-Up
Networking connection with your name and password. No catch or nothing!!
BE WARNED - - they have very strict rules on sending unsolicited mail and
stuff like that. I'm on my second account now, and that's only because I
mailbombed some kid...
DanEclipse
PS. Pop into your local Dixons / Currys / PC World store to get a copy.

There is no justification for net abuse. As a matter of interest, was your original account pulled because Freeserve themselves detected the abuse or did the target of your abuse complain to Freeserve? > What is the problem?? I made a mistake. I have learned. I *KNOW* there are > better ways to get someone for pissing me off. You don't need to tell me > that. I was actually reassured by your acknowledgement of previous sins and I wasn't being critical of you personally. Not everyone can be expected to behave after correction, however, hence my ironic comment. Freeserve don't seem to restrict registrations and it seems too easy for people to open multiple accounts, abuse them all in turn, then open more new accounts as soon as the existing ones are yanked. Doubtless *@*.freeserve.* will find its way into lots of kill files, given time, unless Freeserve tighten up their registration procedures. Why do I get so much aggro for punishing some little twelve year old?? All the other groups have had the same problem. When I send 100 emails to this one kid, saying "Don't mess with me, you don't know what you're doing" (or words to that effect) everyone comes back with "Oh we don't condone mailbombing, only little kids do that, go away, you're immature, scoff, snarl, growl" What is the problem?? I made a mistake. I have learned. I *KNOW* there are better ways to get someone for pissing me off. You don't need to tell me that. I have had exactly the same problem as you. I set-up my account yesterday, via my Demon account using Netscape 4. Last night everything worked fine via the Freeserve number and I could access the WWW etc. Today when I log in to check my e-mail, I get an error message saying that the password is wrong. What's happened? Chris -- Chris Watson (To reply to this message via e-mail, please replace "sucker" in my reply address with "chris")
