Hi all; I have just spent the just 24 hours building faster computer for my linux/win95 system. I have verything working, excetp this damn SCSI card. The card itself has the following jumper on; BEN, AS1, AS0, I09, DN: for I-O 140-015f IRQ 9 Win95 has then assumed IRQ 12 when I try adding new hardware. When I rebbot win95 says there is a problem. Under General:Device status; to see hardware documentation (code 10). Problem is IU have no documentation. Under Resources: Conflicting devices list; no conflicts. Can anyone help, please :<

It is also an ISA card. AFAIK, ISA cards cannot share IRQ's and there may be a PCI card in the system already using IRQ9. The default IRQ for this card is usually IRQ11; but there may be something already using or sharing IRQ11. And IRQ 12 is the i8042prt for the PS/2 mouse and/or keyboard. The "easy" work-around is to replace this ISA SCSI card with a PCI version; PCI bus-mastering allows the sharing of IRQ's.

Especially considering a card like the AdvanceSys ADV-925U (PCI Ultra Card)
is only $64 and has full Linux support
http://www.connectcom.net/downloads/software/os/linux.html
But if savings are that important to you, are there other jumpers near I09
like I10, I11 etc, if there are, I'd guess they are the IRQ, try changing to
a normally free IRQ (like 10 etc) and in your BIOS (under PnP) reserve the
IRQ selected for ISA Legacy use only.
Still, like Dave said, a replacement PCI card will do you wonders!
Regards

I have one of these cards (its dead now... Not sure if i put it in the bin) Used it ages ago. Mine is the OEM version like yours. As the guys said the "I" numbers are the IRQ settings. But i had more probs with its base "address" You could only have (from memory) 140 or somewere around 300. This may be also causing probs! (it did to me tons of times!! i managed a few pc that all had one of these cards) I may still have the manual.. (i`m a pc tech so i keep them all) If you need it i could scan it and send it to you via e-mail. Let me know. Tim David. E.
