I just went through a long session of comm port usage discussions. First of all you need to establish that your computer has comm ports actually available. I thought mine did as I only had a mouse installed but I found out I actually had to disable comm2 on my serail card using the jumper settings called out for the board. If the serial card has comm2 enabled your modem cannot access it and will hang. As far as using comm3 goes, most systems have comm1&3 sharing the same IRQ's and comm2&4 also. If your mouse is on comm1 and your modem on comm3 you are probably barfing the IRQ's. Move your mouse to comm2 or put modem on comm4 if you can and this should fix the problem. Also, when you set terminal settings you should also save settings to preserve whatever changes you made. Hope this helps. If not E-mail me and I'll try to help. Lastly, look at comp.dcom.modems for many replies to my own questions. R.D. Horton ************************************************************************
