We have a Zeos 486-66 with 16 meg ram that usd to be our fileserver. It
has been since downgraded to only a 600 MEG scsi drive, 16 meg ram. The
Scsi contoller is an Adaptec 1542b. When I install windows 3.1 of the
network (lantastic) everything goes fine (the Zeos drive has been reformatted)
and it installs fine. when I reboot the computer and try to run windows it
shows the logo and then just exits to dos again. I tried running in in
standard mode and it works fine. (computer is using dos 6.2). I have also
tried windows 4 workgroups without any success. When I boot with /b the
last lines of the bootlog are

NOSDone=NOSDone
NCD Done=NCD Done

I have replaced the diamond vram card with a generic 1 meg card to see
if that was the problem, with no change. if there is anyone that has
had a similar problem I would REALLY like to hear..

Thanks.

Ok.. please see prior post of mine. but I am using regular vga 640/480 16 color
and I have also tried it w/o any networking software and I have gone as
far as taking out the netwokr card too..

Thanks for the idea.

This is usually indicicative of a network configuration, driver or card problem.
Try running with the /N option and see if it boots.

That behavior usually indicates an IRQ conflict of some kind. Do you have
any other hardware installed besides the network card? Also, are you
running the ASPI4DOS.SYS driver for the adaptec card?

Try installing the smartdrv double-buffering in DOS this has been
required for every SCSI machine I have worked on. But don't rule out IRQ
base address or shared memory conflicts. See the DOS manual for
installing smartdrv double-buffering. Also look at the readme in
windows for more info on SCSI and windows.
