I am about to buy a Miro DC20 PCI card. It does full PAL (50 fields/sec) and I forget what the horizontal x vertical pixel count is, but it is at 24 bit I think. Do I need a WIDE SCSI card and Baraccuda type drive (AV and 7200rpm) to capture at that rate, or will a narrow interface and drive (AV) cope.? Please e-mail. -- David Longley

A western digital 7193 controller is what i use for this kind of stuff and it works just fine. the 7193 is not wide and it is better than the adaptec 2940 (16MIS vs. 10MIPS, multiboot, etc...). I use a Quantum Atlas XP34300 4GB drive and it works better than the Barracuda. The barracuda is not a very good chioce because it lacks embedded servo, so its thermal recalibrations will interrupt the AV data stream. The atlas is a lot faster than the barracuda and more reliable. Hope this helps, Andi
