4OS/2 question -- @name[]

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to specify the different parts
of a long file name (under OS/2) with 4OS/2 using a function similar
to the @name[] function. For example, say you have a file named
file1.txt, you could specify the "file1" part with @name[]. Under
OS/2 you can have names like "file1.part2.txt". Is there some sort
of function that will let you extract the "part2" portion of the
filename?
I do quite a bit of batch processing of files (pumping them
through filters and some file conversion) and it would be nice to
get away from the 8.3 limitation. Thanks for any info.
