The program that you referred to in your post that is produced by the Mormon
Church is Personal Ancestoral File (PAF).  The Program does the following:

      Pedigree Charts
      Family Group Sheets
          Allows for notes to be added and edited
      Charts
          Ancestry, Decendency,  and Ahnentafel charts
      Lists
          by individual, marriage, or place
          showing possible record problems, ie mother was 5 when child was born
          surname frequency, end-of-line individuals, individuals without re-
          corded parents,
      Allows custom designing of reports
      Check for possible duplicate entries
      And more

It allows for your line to pass through brothers of the same family with-
out crashing.  Also, it doesn,t take much room -- about 1.3 megs for the
programs and very little for the database. I have about 15000 names saved in
less than 1.44 megs.

The program contains a research data filer which I have not had the time to
learn how to use, but the rest of the program is very simple to use.

The program costs less than $40.00 and can be obtained from the LDS distri-
