I've gotten enough mail that I've uploaded the latest version of my
WPCRACK program to wuarchive.wustl.edu in the pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS
directory as wpcrack.zip. This is a program that should be able to
determine the password (under 18 characters) of any encrypted Word
Perfect 5.0 or 5.1 file in seconds. I haven't seen it fail yet.
Now when you forget your password the file isn't gone forever. I
exploited a really stupid move on Word Perfect's part in the way it
encrypts files.
It'll also decode Word Perfect 4.x files if you know the password, but
4.x files don't have the security hole, so it can't determine the
password.

Of course, this was many months ago, so the file may not be there now.
You could check with an Archie server to see where it is now (e-mail
me if you need help with any of this).
