Hi, I am looking for a Unix style "dd" program for DOS which would allow me to read and write to/from disk drives like you can on a Unix machine. For example: dd if=/dev/floppy of=disk_image bs=16k to save the image of a diskette to a file named disk_image. Thanks. Kevin -- Kevin C. Example: dskrw237.zip in the dskutl directory of simtel. This is one of the fastest that I am aware of. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Klaus Hartnegg, Kleist-Str. 7, D-7835 Teningen, Germany hartnegg@sun1.ruf.uni-freiburg.de or hakl@ibm.ruf.uni-freiburg.de Disclaimer: this text reflects MY opinion, not that of my employer!

If you are looking for clones of UNIX commands for MS-DOS, then I can strongly recommend the MKS Toolkit of Mortice Kern Systems. If you are used to work on a UNIX system, then you will "feel at home" on a MS-DOS system with the MKS Toolkit (ksh, vi and all/most other UNIX commands you can think of). For your particular purpose, copy the whole content of a diskette to a file (and back), you can, as Klaus Hartnegg said, use Klaus' program Disk-RW, or buy DR DOS 6.0 which includes many, many utilities, including a DISKCOPY (and DISKCOMP) which can do what you want.
