Clearing the frame buffer quickly?

I am working on some animation in BC++ in EGAHI, which has 2
frame buffers. My approach is that I draw 1 animation frame in FB0,
change the active FB to 1, clear out 1, draw the next frame in FB1,
change the visual FB to 1, change the active FB to 0, clear out 0,
draw the next frame in 0, set the visual FB to 0, etc, etc. to get
smoother looking animation. My problem is that the clearviewport()
command is too slow for my liking. Is there some way to wipe out a
frame buffer quicker than this? Is there a way to do this with the
built-in assembler? (I need an example if this is so; I know nothing
of 80386 assembly language) And finally, is it possible to use
such a routine in any graphics mode? (i.e. VGAHI, VGAMED, EGALO, etc)

						Many Thanks,
