Hi back! No limit, but please note that the FAT file system was not designed for huge directories. For example, every time you create a new file (or subdirectory, but we know subdirectories are just files with a special attribute in a special format, right?) MS-DOS does a sequential search to confirm that no file of that name already exists. Naturally if you get above a few thousand files.... Defragging regularily helps. -jen not speaking for microsoft... > >Thanks for any info, Ernst. >-- > >----------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Ernst Kloecker phone: ++49-30-6181635 e-mail: ernst@cs.tu-berlin.de >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
