I know that it's only been out a little while, but are there any drivers for the ATI Ultra Pro? I got mine with a new Gateway computer- I'm sure that lots of people have them by now. I'd be willing to start with something as simple as the list of modes and the Int values for setting them, and a simple plot(row, col) algorithm. I'm hoping to get POV-Ray working with the Ultra Pro in 16 and 24-bit modes. Any help would be appreciated -- but it takes me about five days to find a graphics library package and ftp it here with the mail server. I'd much rather hear "yes -- pub/foo on host@etc has definitely got what you want" rather than "gee, you might want to look at the latest VGAkit..." Thanks in advance. Scott Mark sjm@miles.com

It is not as simple as int's and mode numbers on the Graphics Ultra Pro. The 16 bit and 24 bit color are ONLY available through the graphics coprocessor (ie. the MACH32 chip) and not the VGA section. This means you have to write to the registers of the card directly to manipulate any of the high color modes. > Any help would be appreciated -- but it takes me about five days to find > a graphics library package and ftp it here with the mail server. I am not awhere of any libraries for this card as yet. I am sure anyone writing such a beast would have one hot item. Currently, you'd either have to contact ATI for development information, or suffer with Windows and their Windows drivers. The only other option you have is to use a graphics library supporting 8514/A as the ATI card is register compatible with this standard as well. If you want to contact ATI for development information, I know they will release it under non-disclosure. Their email address is 74740.667@compuserve.com Hope this helps, somewhat. ---____ ____ // // Anthony Quinn Toronto, Ont., Canada // // anthony@cibbs.UUCP "Take off to the Great White North..." ==== ==== uunorth!cibbs!anthony
