Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can create a ram disk larger than
4MB ? Is this an arbitrary limit imposed by ramdrive.sys, or
is there a real reason for it ? Please answer by e-mail if
possible and I'll summarize if there's enough interest.

Allow to put in a plug for SRDISK, a truly wonderful ram disk program written by Marko Kohtala. Available at all your better archive sites. The current version provides, among other things, a neat solution to the recurring problem of DISKCOPYing between diskettes of different formats. Highly recommended. (Oh, did I mention that it support RAM disks of up 128M?) ************************************************************************ If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail. -- Maslow - pynq@quads.uchicago.edu, who is still costing the net hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars, every time he posts - ************************************************************************

Use the ramdrive.sys program from MS-DOS 5 or Windows 3.1. Actually, they're the same program. (The MS-DOS 5 manual says it's limited to 4M because that's what the limit was when we sent the manual text to the printer...can you say, "last-minute change"?) Limit is 32M, using either XMS or EMS ram. If you've a copy of Vdisk.sys from IBM DOS or Compaq MS-DOS, it'll likely go up to 16M. -jen not speaking for microsoft, in fact, they don't know i'm posting.
