Hi there. A couple of years ago I picked up a book which helped to explain how a GUI is written for use in DOS. The book is called "Graphical User Interfaces with Turbo C++", and is written by Ted Faison. Some of you might have seen it. Anyways -- the book got me started, but now I've moved onto much more complicated issues than it handles. I'm working on a graphical environment for use in several of my applications. So far I'm doing well with what I've got, but I'm a little unhappy with the "management" of windows and stuff, and so I've been working on my own GUI design. I've hit a couple of snags, and what I really need is some inspiration. Can anyone think of a good textbook or technical reference on GUI design? I'm looking for aspects such as discussion of appearance, as well as discussion of internal protocols, general workings, etc. Pseudocode is desirable -- C++ code would be even better. But neither is really necessary, since I'm confident that I can write the code itself on my own. If anyone can think of a good book, I'd love to hear from you, either in the newsgroup or by e-mail. Thanks for everything! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Cooper 36 D5 64 B1 47 46 F7 2D mcooper@acs.ucalgary.ca E0 9D B2 27 D4 85 72 F2 "A cool quote is coming to mind.
