Hi all,

What's about Pharlap TNT-DOS Extender, is it a freeware or shareware?

Thanks in advance,

Last time I checked, Phar Lap was charging as much as Visual C++ for their
Dos Extenders. They may be great, but for someone like me who is a poor
college student and get's his Compilers on student discounts, I sure as
hell can't afford that.

Pharlap sells the 286 extender (v3.xx) and TNT Extender (v7.0, the
V8 come next April). Tnt Extender runs Well with Microsoft Compiler
v9.00 (this of VISUAL 2.0), but you have to pay royalties with each
programm you sell with it. In the utilities, you get a Run Time Kit
who adds about 400k on your .EXE file, then you have an MS-DOS 32
Bits application. Very good if you don't need much about IRQ (Here,
it besomes difficult).
It can run with Borland and Watcom Compiler, but I didn't test them.
Play attention that other Extender (royalty free) run in 286
protected mode (16 Mo limit, and not really faster that Real mode.
Last but not least, With Microsoft Compiler, you have only a FLAT
memory model, so you cannot protect a buffer in your program without
defining in assembly langage your own selector (ES). In 286 mode,
you have a better protection between the datas of your programms.
