Hello ... The answer is MAYBE! If the alternate user was given EXPLICIT admin rights, than you are okay. The ADMIN user that's automatically created is nothing special from any other user that's given EXPLICIT rights to the [Root]. On the other hand, if the alternate user was made ADMIN EQUIVALENT (and you no longer have an ADMIN to be equal to) then that alternate user cannot create at [Root]. It's really, REALLY important to make sure you have at least one other user besides ADMIN that has full rights. I stress this when I teach my NW4.1 Administration class. Unfortunately, a place where I started doing netware work 2 months ago didn't! The options were either rebuild from scratch (not really an option...) or call for help from Novell or a VAR with Novell tech contact, who will bring a Novell NLM in that allows them to recreate the ADMIN. When you're in the position of needing the ADMIN replaced, it's hard to appreciate Novell's high level of security RE: this operation. But in better times, I'd be happier not to have it (the program) running around loose for anyone to use! 8-) I hope that you have another user with appropriate rights. Regards ...
