Jim, I am in the same situation. I will be setting up this same scenerio within the next three months. My homework tells me to put a partition at each of the remote sites and one at the home office. Try to make sure that the users at the remote sites are in the container for the remote site and are predominately using the resources of the remote site. You know how slow it can get on the WAN links. You want to make sure that the users are authenticating to the tree on the server at the remote site. I've placed a Sniffer on our network and found that the time sync and replica sync traffic is not really that intensive. I would keep in mind that NDS is a loosely distributed database. Some or I would say most changes in NDS only occur at intervals greater than 30mins. This is not to say that if you eating your bandwidth by backing up the server across a 56KB link that your partition ring is going to stay syncronized. Netware 4 has a console utility called DSTRACE and you will become familiar with the ol' 625 error code if you can't maintain a server to server comm. Make sure you do not filter the NDS SAP -278 in your routers. If you configure your TIME SYNC to use SAP (the default) don't filter that one either -26B. If you want to reduce the SAP traffic go with a custom TIME SYNC. I currently am using the SAP method, but thinking of going custom TIME SYNC config. when I bring up the WAN LINKS.
