Variable length subnet with Netware

Hello Netware networking gurus:

Does Novell support VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masking)?

I need to configure a netware 4.1 server using a class C, 1 bit subnet mask
(255.255.255.128) utilizing two networks.

1st ethernet card: 78 hosts
2nd ethernet card: 95 hosts

I understand it is not possible to use RIP, but OSPF might work. Does
anybody know how to configure this? The upstream Cisco router at our network
has no problem utilizing OSPF.

Will it also work with Netware 3.12 using MPR package?

Thank you.

hi

Variable Length Subnet Masking is not possible in
Netware's implementation of TCPIP on Netware 4 or 3
as far as I know. It is a pitty though, because it
will solve a few problems. If you hear of a way to
do it, please let me know.

Yes, Netware 4 will support varable length subnet masks (VLSM) using either RIP2 or OSPF.
It can be configured using INETCFG from the console command line.

I think MPR supports VLSM but I haven't used it.

Yes!

Why can't you use RIP?
RIP II (NetWare 4.x and NetWare MPR) supports VLSMs.

BTU!
