Upgrade to 4.11 w/PMail

Hello all,

I have a Netware 3.11 server that is about to be upgraded to IntraNetware
4.11. My concern is with getting Pegasus to run on it. We are running
Mercury Mail, including the MercuryP. My first instinct was to just go down
load the latest (I'm sure we are quite out of date) and install it after the
Migrate to 4.11, but I want to ask on here for anything special that I need to
know. My major concern is what I do if we have 2 people with the same login
into the NDS tree (in different containers, obviously). What would their
respective E-Mails be? I'm guessing something like:

brian.research.faculty.cba@cbafac.ou.edu and
brian.management.faculty.cba@cbafac.ou.edu

If this is true, then is there a way to do aliasing of names? (ie:
brianp@cbafac.ou.edu, brianw@cbafac.ou.edu)

Anyhooo, any insights or precautions/ideas/revelations about this upgrade I
am about to do will be very helpful.

Also, do I need to install MHS on the new 4.11 server (we are migrating the
old box to a new bow during the upgrade of 3.11) before the migrate, or will
the migrate take care of it?

Thanks a ton in advance!
-BEP

Hi Brian,

I have no experience with upgrading, I do however uses Pegasus. You need
the NDS extension of Pegasus, you must download this separately !. We use
it and it works fine with NDS. Note however that until lately only the
16 bit version works with NDS and not the 32 bit version ! (The 16 bit
version does however run fine on WIN95 and WINNT).

Yes, it would be the fully qualified address (starting at the context
where Pegasus is installed). For example, if Pegasus is
configured/installed in the faculty.cba OU, then you could email the
people at:
     brian.research@...... and
     brian.management@......

With Mercury 1.30 and above, you can specify a "Synonym" for each
user. This is done via the Foreign Email Address tab in NWAdmin. You
specify a SMTP address for each user. The advantage of synonyms over
aliases is that pegaus/mercury will preserve the synonyms. Let's say
you make Brian the Researcher's synonym brianp@...... When he sends a
Internet message, mercury automatically changes the From address from
brian.research@.... to brianp@..... Even with synonyms specified,
people can still send mail to brianp via the address
brian.research@.....

You don't need MHS on the new server. Mercury and Pegasus work
wonderfully without it.
