Need help backing up PCs running the PC Anywhere host TSR

We have a Netware 3.12 environment, using ARCserve 6.0 and Quantum DLT drives for backups on a Proliant 5000. We use the DOSAGENT.EXE or WINAGENT.EXE to backup various PCs that need backing up either on a daily or weekly basis. Throughput can be up to 20MB/min backing up a PC. That all goes well. The problem we have is that a few of them run the PC Anywhere Host when the users are not at their desk. While the DOSAGENT TSR *is* loaded, the backup now takes 10 times longer (literally), as the backup may move at a rate of 1MB/min (as in *one*) My presumption is that the Host TSR is gobbling up CPU cycles, thus extending the backup. I called Cheyenne and Symantec about this months ago but they had never heard of this problem and had no clue about solving it. We need to run the DOS TSR (Windows TSR is not an option for us). The best option is to backup the PC using the WINAGENT TSR while the user is at their desk during the day, but our ARCServe backup script for the weekends is one big script and my colleague says there is no way to keep it all in one script and yet defer the backup of that machine to a specific time. Has anyone had this kind of a problem with the Host TSR or other TSR and gotten around it? Thanks for any help you can lend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Kustner Emjay Corporation System/LAN Administrator 725 W. I did have the same problem with 3.12 running arcserve 5.0. Sometimes it even hung my backup. But with the above procedure my back runs poperly.
