Assorted Q'ns for a Netware 3.12 Guru

I have been appointed the administrator for a small
novell 3.12 network, and am only working 1/2 to a day
a week (i am studying) and as a result am struggling
with a few problems :

1)	Problems with RPRINTER. The network has three
printers attached to the server, one actually on the
network, and we require to connect one to one of the
workstations. There is a remote printer set up on the
print server (LPT1 remote), and the server display says
that it is currently unattached. Anyway, when I run the
rprinter file on the workstation, it says it has been
attached ok, but the workstation just hangs. Also, when
I don't capture any LPT ports, and just print straight to
LPT1, the station crashes. I don't think it's the printer as
it works without any network software loaded and I don't think
it's the parralell port as the same problem occurs with a
different computer. Any ideas?

2)	While I was trying to fix this, I ran into the problem
of when I reset the workstation, the netx command doesn't find
the server. I am able to remedy this by going to the server
console, and disconnecting my login there. Obviously there must
be a better way of doing this. What I assume should happen is that
when a workstation requests to be connected, if a connection is
already found, it is released. Anyone experienced / fixed this
problem before???

3)	Difference between using ipx / netx and ipxodi / vlm.
All the books I have read mainly talk about using vlm.exe, but
the system that I have inherited is using ipx and netx. Is
using vlm.exe much better, and is it simply a matter of changing
the boot disks for the workstations?????

Thanks in advance for any help / clues you can give me,
	Joel Robotham
