ARCserve for NetWare is the automated backup and restore solution for your
entire Novell network. This award-winning server-based software backs up
all file servers and attached PCs running DOS, OS/2, Windows (included in
the standard package), as well as UNIX and Macintosh (offered as options).
Maintaining the same innovative functions as ARCserve� DOS Edition 4.x,
the Windows Edition provides enterprise-wide backup for networks of all
sizes. 


EASY-TO-USE

Using the MicroSoft Windows 3.1 Graphical User Interface, ARCserve Windows
Edition manages backup easily. The intuitive front-end allows you to
choose a source and destination for backup. Select the Quick Start option
to begin backing up all servers and workstations in just three mouse
clicks.


AUTOMATED

ARCserve provides flexible automation capabilities to ensure that backup
occurs when most convenient for the user. The Auto Pilot feature provides
full automation for data management with tape rotation and disk grooming
features. Auto Pilot uses the standard "Grandfather, Father, Son" (GFS)
tape rotation method which automatically maintains daily, weekly, monthly
and yearly backups. The Disk Grooming feature automatically frees valuable
disk space by moving files from the server to tape, if they have not been
accessed within a specified time period.


PERFORMANCE

Multiple tape drive capabilities enable tape cascading and parallel
streaming, with up to seven tape drives attached to one host adapter. Tape
Cascading continues backup jobs to successive tape drives when the
original tape reaches capacity. Parallel Streaming increases performance
through simultaneous processing of backup and restore operations to
separate devices on the same server. Jobs running concurrently on
different devices have attained processing speeds of up to 55 MB per
minute with one drive, and over 200 MB per minute with seven drives.


NOTIFICATION

The ARCserve Job Queue Window displays a list of all jobs scheduled on the
selected server. When a job is complete, status can be provided via
broadcast, MHS message, or NetWare print queue, allowing the system
administrator to monitor backup and restore jobs. In addition, with
Cheyenne's FAXserve�, alert messages can be sent via fax to monitor jobs
remotely. Messages are configurable on a per job basis and can notify you
in a timely manner if any errors or problems occur. 


TAILORED OPTIONS

To provide increased flexibility, Cheyenne offers optional modules for
ARCserve. The modules enable backup, restore, and archiving of networks
that are host to a mixture of different workstation operating systems
(heterogeneous environments), without requiring the workstation to be
logged into the server. Networks with attached PCs running UNIX and
Macintosh platforms can utilize Uagents and MacAgent. DBagent, the
database option for ARCserve, provides on-line backup of mission-critical
databases on the network with full integrity. In addition, the Changer
Option supports tape changers and library systems to provide additional
automation.


COMPATIBILITY

ARCserve Windows Edition is fully compatible with NetWare versions 3.11,
3.12, and 4.x, and backs up all Novell security information, including
Bindery and NetWare Directory Services. Conversion from ARCserve DOS
Edition 4.x to ARCserve Windows Edition 5.x can be accomplished with ease.
You can convert scripts, the FTS database, queue jobs, Auto Pilot control
files, and the tape usage log.

Integration with InocuLAN� & FAXserve

InocuLAN, a comprehensive server-based anti-virus program, offers a "real
time trap" for stopping viruses. InocuLAN scans files for viruses before
ARCserve backs them up, insuring virus-free backup. FAXserve provides
simple-to-use facsimile management services for your network. With
FAXserve and ARCserve Windows Edition loaded, error and status reports can
be sent to remote locations automatically via fax.
