Quantum is not getting out of the high end drive business. If their
recent announcements are taken to mean this then it also means they are
out of the drive business totally!

In reality, Quantum has wisely decided to let their long time partner and
manufacturing giant MKE do the manufacturing of their high end drives as
well. The end result of this should be more high quality drives that cost
less and shipping in larger quantities as compared to the present
(former?) Quantum Milpitas based manufacturing facility. Perhaps they
should have done this in 1988 but that is another issue.
