Can't create/mount NW 3.12 volume on Pentium/Western Digital

A client recently decided to upgrade his server to a
200 MHz Pentium with 128 Mb RAM and a Western Digital
Caviar 32500 hard drive (2.5 Gb).

I've not installed 3.12 before, but have installed 3.11.

I created a 200 Mb DOS partition using Win95's DOS.
I copied the Novell 3.12 files onto the partition.
I ran server.exe and loaded ide.dsk.
I loaded install, created a Netware partition with the
remaining disk space. When I created and tried to mount
volume SYS: the routine failed. If I run vrepair, it
wipes out the SYS volume.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried Shuttle HOT-553 and HOT-555 motherboards and
two different drives (though both Western DIgital).

Please cc: any replies to my e-mail address so that
I don't miss anything.

Thanks in advance.

Do you perhaps have LBA mode turned on? IDE.DSK does NOT like it. You
MUST be honest about the geometry.

You'll have to start over because when you turn off LBA mode your DOS
partition will be toast too.
